Ford’s new Mustang sticks with pure gasoline

The new Mustang will be offered with a larger 5.0-litre V8 engine or a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine like today’s Mustang. These engines have been improved for the 2024 model year Mustang, however, to produce more power and, in the case of the four-cylinder engine, burn less fuel. Payab ,F, hasn’t announced how much power yet, but has promised that the V8 will be the most powerful “naturally aspirated” – meaning not turbocharged or supercharged – V8 ever offered in the base model Mustang GT.

“Investing in another generation of the Mustang is a big statement at a time when many of our competitors are exiting the business of internal combustion vehicles,” Ford CEO Jim Farley said in a statement.

Ford announced plans to make a hybrid version of the MustangBack in 2017. Since then, however, Ford has introduced fully electric cars, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV and the Ford F-150 Lightning pickup, As well as plug-in hybrid. Ford spokesman Mike Levine said that meant Ford didn’t need the hybrid Mustang coupe to meet its emissions reduction goals.

So, while its competitors are abandoning gas-powered performance coupes like the Dodge Challenger, the fuel-burning Mustang will continue, said Kumar Galhotra, who heads Ford Blue, a division focused on internal combustion vehicles.

“We have made this investment because we see, in the near future, there will be a market for internal combustion Mustangs,” he said.

Ford competitor General Motors has set 2035 as the deadline when its lineup will be fully electric, but Ford has not made the same commitment in the United States.

The new Mustang has better aerodynamics than the older model.

While the 2024 Mustang Coupe has a brand new body, it is clearly reminiscent of the previous models. The headlights look narrower and in this new version, there are three light bars in a row, creating virtual eyebrows. The trunk area is also smaller, and the area containing the taillights is deeply indented, giving the lights a natural V shape. The grille is noticeably larger on V8-powered cars than on 4-cylinder models. V8-powered Mustang GT cars also have a large “heat extractor” vent in the hood, which, in addition to releasing incoming air through the radiator, reduces aerodynamic drag.

While the exterior of the car is close to the traditional Mustang design, the inside is fundamentally different. A large screen replaces the traditional gauge, while also serving as the center touchscreen. The half of the screen that is not directly in front of the driver is tilted towards the driver. The massively detailed gauges and graphics on the screen are highly customizable, as are most of the interior lights in the car.

For those looking to recapture the Mustangs of their youth, Ford is appealing to Gen X and Millennials, apparently moving on from Baby Boomers who first bought the original pony car. There’s even a Fox body gauge option that shows a dial like in 1980s Mustangs.

The interiors include a single screen that includes both the gauges and the center touchscreen.

The Mustang will be available with modern driver assistance features, such as active cruise control that can keep a distance from the cars ahead, even in stop-and-go traffic, lane keeping assist and emergency braking. However, it will not be offered with the Blue Cruise, Ford’s hands-free highway driving feature. Levine said, it was realized that Mustang customers, who are buying a car focused on driving pleasure, would not be interested in taking their hands off the wheel.

For better or worse, depending on who you ask, new Mustang owners will be able to indulge in a favorite pastime — revving the engine while the car is stalled — without sitting in the driver’s seat. Owners will be able to crank the engine up to high speed using just one button on the key fob remote control. With each press, the engine will spin up and down several times. It serves absolutely no practical function and is strictly an entertainment facility.

The car also has a traditional looking parking brake operated by a lever, but it is actually a kind of electronic parking brake which is usually operated by a small switch on most other vehicles. Special settings may allow the parking brake lever Can be used for drift, or by sliding the rear wheels sideways.

Ford also unveiled a new high-performance version called the Mustang Dark Horse. With a 500 horsepower V8 engine, the Mustang Dark Horse will feature various suspension improvements, as well as dark tinted headlight covers and other visual cues. It also included changes to aerodynamics and cooling, such as air ducts for brake cooling and more powerful fans for the radiator. This Mustang will have special badges that show the horse’s head facing forward, but the front will still feature a matte-finish version of the normal trotting pony icon.

Ford will also offer special track-use-only Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R versions that will come with safety gear like the roll cage required for track racing, but will be left with other unnecessary options and features, including a passenger seat. (A passenger seat can be added to the Mustang Dark Horse S as an option.)

today, Mustang remains the last car – Unlike trucks or SUVs – Ford sells in the United States. The new 2024 Mustang, the car’s seventh design generation, will go on sale next summer.
